It is the travel season: tips for hygiene in hotels

Summer is finally here and many people are looking forward to a relaxing vacation. However, surveys show that travelers wish to feel secure during the nicest time of the year. With clever hygiene solutions, hotels can offer their guests a carefree time.

Vacationers cannot wait for summer holidays

Summer, sun, beach: for months, many people have dreamed of a relaxing time in a hotel. To facilitate this, it is vital that travelers feel as secure as possible during their vacation, a survey by Hospitality Net together with Knowingli Market Research has revealed.

More than 93 percent of all respondents said they expect their hotel to have a good hygiene management. In entry and exit areas, in front of elevators, in gyms, in washrooms and restaurants, for example, hotel visitors expect highly visible cleaning protocols and a plentiful supply of hand sanitiser.

"This shift in guest expectations is not like a rubber band. It's not going to snap back any time soon even when we get through COVID," explains Alan Young, co-founder of Knowingli. "Of those planning to travel over the next 12 months, over 80 percent intend to look at health and safety protocols before choosing a hotel. Moreover, over 57 percent would pay more for a room that is certified clean. Understanding these expectations enables hoteliers to anticipate and respond to the enduring changes that will transform our industry."

Touch-free hand sanitiser dispensers are the most in demand

When it comes to hand sanitiser dispensers, hotel guests prefer touch-free systems, according to the survey, and for good reason! Touch free dispensers do not get touched by dozens of hands. Instead, guests hold their hands under an integrated motion sensor, which automatically dispenses the optimum amount of hand disinfectant gel.

GOJO® Touch-Free dispensers for soap, and PURELL® touch-free hand sanitiser dispensers are available in various designs and colors. The systems can be filled with 700 or 1200 ml cartridges. The touch-free dispensers are designed for wall mounting, but can easily be converted into free-standing, mobile dispenser towers.

However, it is important that these are filled with effective gels for hand sanitising. When choosing a hand sanitiser, it's all about the right formula. Well balanced formulas, like the products from PURELL, do not dry out the skin - not even during intensive use. At the same time, they are effective against 99.9 percent of all harmful pathogens. Germs really don't stand a chance.
